Winchester 1906 SHORT (ref # 1379)
Winchester 1906 SHORT (ref # 1379)
A first-year production 1906 Winchester in SHORT .22 CALIBER. A SERIAL NUMBER OF 38838 PLACES PRODUCTION OF THIS RIFLE IN late 1906. A rare find to have a 1906 made toward the end of the first year of production, and in this type of condition. Metal retains bluing over most of barrel and magazine with several spots of patina. There is also spotty patina on the receiver with wear on the tangs. Wood solid and with handling marks. Bore is still pretty good on this rifle, with rifling but markings in the lands. This rifle has the correct original issued Winchester sights, with the rear one having a long neck in the proper 1890 style. A nice example of the very rare early 1906 rifle in SHORT, made in the first year of production.
