Winchester 1873 Third Model gun in 44-40 caliber. Gun has serial number of 165869 meaning production in 1884. Gun can be shipped directly to buyer without FFL required. Bore shiny with some wear but rifling still evident. Wood dark and solid except for crack in upper left portion of forearm. Octagon barrel still has covering on metal except along edges. Receiver still has metal covering with screw heads all fine except one on left side. Action works fine and all internal parts appear to be operative. Dust cover present and slides properly when gun in loaded, but is slightly loose. Original crescent metal butt plate with trap door still on gun. Front sight is original with correct metal post; rear is correct style but looks newer- elevator still present. A nice representative 1873 Winchester in the much sought after 44-40 caliber.
