An outstanding example of the Winchester 1895 Russian Musket that was sold 1915-1916 to the Czar for his army. This gun, with serial number # 276155, was made in 1916. The caliber is 7.62 mm Russian. The barrel retains over 95% bluing and the receiver well over 75% original bluing remaining with only a few blemishes. The wood is in excellent condition with only a few minor handling marks. The cartouche is clear on the right buttstock (MP8) with a rack number 5 on the left side; only two minor dents in the wood. A metal butt plate still retains over 85% bluing and has the correct door for a cleaning rod. The receiver has the correct Russian stamp over the Winchester logo, bolt guides, a few minor areas of pitting and all screw heads are in very good condition. The bore is excellent, bright and shiney with outstanding rifling and no marring on the lans. The correct ladder sight is still on the rear while the front sight has the forged lug and blade sight. All three original swivels remain on the gun and the bayonet mount is on the front rifle band. An 18inch bayonet issued by Winchester also comes with this musket, and is the correct length for the date that the gun was manufactured. All internal parts work and are tight on this musket. This gun has not had much use or abuse, and is a true Collector Quality for the serious person interested in Winchester military rifles.
