A very early Winchester Second Model 1890 in .22 Long. An outstanding gun with a mirror bore, shiny and rifling prominent. Serial number of #138537 places production of this gun in May of 1902. All internal aspects of the gun are functional and original. Bolt still tight to receiver, lifter is correct for long bullets and works properly when gun is cocked. Metal still retains 95+% bluing on a gun that has been professionally refurbished, and with only several small scratches on the left barrel side. The roll die stamping on the barrel is correct for a gun of this vintage and there is also a .22 stamped in front of the LONG on the barrel top in front of the receiver. Stock is tight to all metal parts, has a moderately fancy grade of walnut (with a rating of X), and one crack starting on left side of the upper tang that has been professionally repaired. Original issue rear sight with correct Winchester patent stamping and special order 1890 front sight with elevated blade. This gun seems to have had little use and would make an excellent shooter.
