~~~SALE~~~ Price reduced from $597 to $579 A very nice 1899 Savage. This Model 99-EG is the Heavy Stocked Savage lever action rifle in the less common .300 Savage caliber, and has the more desirable longer 24 inch barrel. The bore is immaculate, shiny and rifling prominent. A serial number of (#662055) indicates production in early 1952. The gun metal retains over 90% bluing cover on the barrel, with the only wear around the muzzle tip. The front portion of the receiver shows wear and is beginning to turn a brown patina. The remaining receiver surface still has strong bluing, with over 85% cover on the entire receiver-surface. The only real wear is on the recevier bottom and metal edges, probably from carrying the gun. The finger-lever still retains much of the original case hardening coloration. Wood is in very good condition with some wear on the forearm and stock, with handling marks from normal use. Metal to wood fit is very tight and only a small ~1 inch small crack in the wood at the top tang-receiver junction that does not influence the integrity. All internal parts original, trigger spring strong, and gun completely functional. The original metal butt plate and sights are still on the gun, with bluing over 60% on the butt plate and the rear sight with original elevator. The gun comes with sling swivels, and also included are the original leather shoulder strap and an antique soft gun case. This is a very nice collectable and shootable antique Savage 1899 lever-action rifle.
