~~~SOLD~~~ A well preserved pre-64 Model 70 in 30-06 caliber. A serial number of 97061 places production of this rifle at the end of WWII in 1948. Barrel is the standard 26 inch version with metal still retaining over 98 percent bluing. The floor-plate, trigger guard and metal butt plate still have bluing and the only wear is on the muzzle tip and bolt handle. Bore is in excellent condition with prominent rifling throughout the entire length of the barrel. The wood on this pistol grip stock is walnut with varnish still shiny and checking edges are still crisp - overall wood is in excellent condition. The rifle has an post front sight with original hood, and a blank insert into the rear dovetail for scope mounting. Sling swivels studs come with this gun. The history of this Model 70 is one owner. This Model 70 will make a nice hunting rifle and is also in the type of condition the will please the serious Winchester Collector.
