~~~SALE~~~and FREE ShippingWinchester 1886 Sporting Rifle in 38/56 (ref# 386)
PRICE REDUCED WELL BELOW BLUE-BOOK VALUE...From a Private collection, an amazingly well preserved 1886 Winchester Sporting Rifle with a case-hardened receiver, in 38-56 caliber. This gun has a serial number of 26791 indicating production in 1888, so it can be shipped directly to a Buyer. The gun looks to have been hardly used at all as the metal and wood are all in excellent condition. The case-hardened receiver still retains a some visible color in protected areas as does the butt plate, while the remainder has a greyish color from the ageing process of the case-harden bluing. The round barrel and magazine are in excellent condition. There had been some slow-rust bluing added to the magazine. On the barrel there are small dents on dovetail edges, and the barrel, forend cap and magazine have a 99% cover of slow rust bluing. All roll die markings are crisp and readable over entire gun. The bore on this 38-56 is immaculate, shiny with prominent rifling and no evidence of any pitting and a few markings in the lands. The front sight is a Rocky Mountain with brass blade while the rear is a Winchester semibuckhorn with correct elevator for this time period. The stock and forearm wood are in very good condition with a very minimum of handling marks. There is one small ~1.5 inch slit starting on the top left or the forearm, but all wood is still proud to the metal surfaces even to the curved metal butt plate. Internal mechanisms all operative and action tight and finger lever functions crisply when the gun is cocked. Trigger spring still strong and hammer strikes firing pin in bolt with considerable force. This is a quality 1886 Winchester rifle. The gun will be shipped directly to the buyer with NO SHIPPING CHARGES and no FFL is required for purchasing this very hard-to-find early 1886 Sporting rifle.
