Selling Guns on Consignment

We are often asked, "How do I sell my gun?"
How much is it worth?   ~    How do I find a buyer?  ~ What about the transfer?

Homestead Firearms can help you answer all these questions.  We buy and sell many guns of all different types, and can offer you two different solutions.  But there are several steps that you should take before you begin the process.

1. APPRAISE YOUR FIREARM
You need to know about how much your gun is worth.  The value can vary tremendously on old guns from a few dollars to thousands of dollars.  We offer self appraisals on many popular Winchester and Remington models where you can follow a simple key and determine for yourself the approximate value.  On other types of firearms, or for a more accurate apprasial on your Winchester, we offer standard appraisals. Once you have the value, you can then decide on how to best sell your firearm.  For appraisal information, Click Here.

2. SELL IT QUICKLY, AND WITHOUT HASSLE
We often purchase firearms for resale and are always on the lookout for quality guns to offer to our many customers.  Because we do re-sell most of them, we will pay you A Price that is slightly less than retail.  As a rule that is about 30 to 40%  less than the retail price.  There are other factors that may figure into our offer to you, such as the kind of gun, the market for that type of gun, what we have in our current inventory, etc. If you have multiple guns in a collection, we may be able to offer slightly more for each gun via a package deal.  The advantage is that it is a quick sale and you will receive your payment very fast.  Please contact charles@homesteadfirearms.com if you would like more information.  We will need some good digital photos and a history of your firearm from you, in order to prepare an accurate offer to you.

3. SELL IT ON CONSIGNMENT ON THE INTERNET
We offer the service of letting you sell your firearm on consignment on our website.  The guns are listed in our webpage, but when a buyer is interested, they contact you directly.  You do all of the negotiating and then ship your gun to the buyer's FFL address.  The advantages to this type of sale is that you can ask any price you want and do all of the negotiating yourself.  It is not an auction, so you have control of the sale at all times.  However, you must agree to our policies that include a 3-day inspection during which your buyer can return the gun and you must comply with the federal shipping laws.  We will help you with all of that.  The consignment fee is minimal, and varies depending on your asking price. This type of sale will take a little longer, but you may make a greater profit.

There is no cost to initially list on this site for a 90-day period.  When you gun sells then you pay only 5% of the sale price up to $500, then 3% for the remaining balance over the $500 threshold.  You provide up to 6 pictures, text, price that you wish to ask, and under what category you want the gun displayed.  We will place your information on the web site, displayed in a professional manner. You will also need to provide either your email address or phone number at the end of the text, and interested customers will contact and deal with you directly. All policies of this web site apply to those who list consignments.
